It is the centre for many cattle, sheep, horse and dairy farms and is the place where the South African mohair industry was started. Here are just a few suggestions you can possibly do whilst enjoying your stay in Graaff-Reinett: • Visit the Valley of Desolation Overnight: Graaff-Reinett (B & D) DAYS 8 & 9: Addo Elephant National Park Once at your accommodation, you can book game drives in open 4x4 vehicle as well as other activities including guided walks in the park and horse riding. Overnight: Addo (B & D) DAY 10: Port Elizabeth Port Elizabeth is well known for its role in the political struggle in South Africa so after checking into your guest house, you have the choice to either relax at the guest house or be collected by a representative Calabash Tours and get taken on an insightful Real City Tour of the townships, culminating in dinner at one of the local shebeens (Taverns). Overnight: Port Elizabeth (B & D) DAY 11: Tsitsikamma National Park The Tsitsikamma area is famous for its wild, scenic beauty, sea-scalloped beaches and it is also the adventure centre of the Garden Route with the Bloukrans Bungi-jump *(216M) which is one of the highest in the world! Other optional extras, which you may like to include whilst visiting the area: • Stormsriver Canopy Tour (www.stormsriver.co.za) Overnight: Tsitsikamma National Park (B & D) DAY 12: Swellendam Nestling at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, Swellendam has much to offer visitors who have an interest in history, nature and outdoor activities. Situated on the N2, approximately 240km from both Cape Town and George, Swellendam is the perfect choice for a halfway stopover or as a base from which to explore the area. A great optional extra which you may want to include is one of the greatest Swellendam hits - a boat cruise on the Buffeljachts Dam, at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, on a fully kitted-out double-decker wooden raft. Sit and enjoy the magical scenery, take a swim, paddle an inflatable 'croc' up a twisting rocky gorge or try your hand at bass fishing. Then light the fire, watch the sun go down and look for shooting stars. Whether you want to party the night away or quietly immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, this is the place to be. A braai can be prepared on deck and a full catered service is optional.
